Carpet - Frequently Asked Questions
What type of carpet should I buy?
This normally depends on the area of the house you're looking to carpet. For instance we would recommend a heavy weight carpet for hall, stairs and landings or other areas where the carpet will get heavy wear. In bedrooms and areas less likely to attract heavy traffic lighter weights of carpets can be used.
Do I need underlay with my carpet?
Yes, a good quality underlay will help extend the life of your carpet. Not only will a good quality underlay extend the life of your carpet it will also feel nice under foot as it acts as a cushioning to your carpet. Avalon can supply quality underlay to compliment your carpet purchase.
Should I have my carpet professionally fitted?
Absolutely yes! By getting your carpet professionally fitted by Avalon's highly trained and experienced fitters you will benefit from a carpet that will last and look nicer for longer. All carpets fitted by Avalon come with a 12 month fitting guarantee, in the unlikely event any problems should arise we will rectify them quickly and free of charge.
How should I maintain my carpet?
Use a good quality vacuum cleaner to remove surplus dirt and grit that could damage the carpet fibres. The use of an upright hoover with a beater bar is advised as this helps to remove more ingrained dust and dirt in the carpets pile.
